Dear Parishioners,
“Father, when are you going to have Mass Server training?” was the question posed by a young boy after Faith Formation class. I will have training on Saturday, October 24th at 9:30 am at St. Anne’s. This training is open for young boys and girls who have had First Communion and have entered third grade. We have ordered some additional server albs in anticipation of younger servers coming aboard.
My plan is for the newly instructed servers to “shadow” current servers before they are assigned for the first time. This means that the Mass Server Schedule will continue as printed but at any given Mass, newly trained servers may get vested and sit near the scheduled older servers and observe their ministry. Hopefully most newly instructed servers will have that opportunity, but if that does not work out for each server, do not worry, we will get you on the schedule.
I want to thank the parents who have encouraged their children to consider becoming an altar server. Your support is critical. For parishioners at St. Nicholas, any youth or adults are invited to request a training for serving at St. Nicholas. Whether we have several interested individuals or only one or two, youth or adults, I will offer the necessary training. Please let me know.
Also, each Wednesday evening on Faith Formation Nights, from 6:00-7:00pm, I am offering Adult Catechesis at St. Anne’s. Moving forward the sessions will be held in church. A lesson plan is sent home to help prepare for the instructions and conversation. This is open to parishioners from both parishes.
In Christ,
Fr. Don Wagner
